Kunstverein is thrilled to present the second volume of a new line by Kunstverein Publishing Milano Extra (XTRA): the publication realised as integral part of the 'final project' by the students of the MA in Curatorial Practice at IED Florence.
The publication brings together the conversations between the curators, as well as their dialogues with the artists; the exhibition and the activities of a dense public programme that took place over the course of two months in Florence. With about ten pages dedicated to the work and contribution of each artist, this book completes the project and is published as part of Kunstverein Publishing Milano's new series Extra: publishing projects developed in collaboration with students and educational institutions.
Eco-esistenze: forme del naturale e dell’artificiale s a collective exhibition that uses the work of seven artists (Leone Contini, Simone Donati, Claudia Losi, Elena Mazzi, Elena Nemkova, Caterina Sbrana and Nicola Toffolini) to explore the convergence between natural and artificial spaces and the manner in which communities perceive and experience those spaces.
The project is based on an exhibition set on the premises of the IED Firenze and extends, through a rich schedule of public events, lectures and workshops, through a number of venues in the city, into Palazzo Strozzi’s rooms. Eco-existences uses the languages of culture, anthropological research, science and storytelling to expand our understanding of a reality that is still in the process of being defined. The exhibition enters a territory of which the boundaries are still undefined and triggers a reflection on the now outdated contrast between man and nature.
The work, devised to tie in with the exhibition Olafur Eliasson: Nel tuo tempo, at the Palazzo Strozzi, and is the result of a cooperation between the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation and IED Firenze’s MA in Curatorial Practice.
The project, for the second year running, it's coordinated by Daria Filardo (IED) and Martino Margheri (Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi) with curatorial development by the class of 2021/2022 Carmen Ferreira De Terenzio, Marica Pia Galtieri, Veronica Gomez Puig, Elena Graglia, Beatrice Guercini, Sara Labianca, Shana Maria Lewis, Yolimar Martinez Merced, Anabella Salazar, Elena Sinagra and Wang Le.
